Privacy notice

How we collect, use and protect your personal information, and the choices you have.

01

Who we are

Wolfgang Capital is a privately owned investment and operating group based at Leeds East Airport, Church Fenton, Tadcaster. We acquire, own and develop established businesses, and we work with owners, management teams and advisers who get in touch with us.

This notice explains how we handle personal information on this website and when you correspond with us. For that information we are the data controller, which simply means we are the organisation responsible for deciding how it is collected and used.

02

Information we collect

We collect information in three ways.

What you tell us

  • Your name, company, job title, email address and telephone number.
  • Anything you include in a message or enquiry form.
  • Details about a business you tell us about, such as its sector, size, ownership and performance.
  • Your preferences, for example whether you are happy for us to stay in touch.

What we collect automatically

  • Pages you visit, how long you stay and how you arrived at the site.
  • Your device, browser type and operating system.
  • Your approximate location and internet protocol (IP) address.

What we receive from others

  • Introductions from lawyers, accountants, brokers and other advisers.
  • Publicly available information about companies and their directors.

Please do not send us information about other people unless you have their permission, and please avoid sending anything you consider especially sensitive.

03

How we use your information

  • To reply to your enquiry and keep a record of our conversations.
  • To consider a potential acquisition, partnership or investment.
  • To run our business properly, including our own records and administration.
  • To understand how the website is used and to improve it.
  • To keep the website and the areas behind the passcode secure.
  • To meet our legal, tax and regulatory obligations.
  • To detect and prevent misuse of the website.

04

Our lawful bases

Where the law requires a basis for using personal information, we rely on one or more of the following:

  • Legitimate interests — running our business, responding to enquiries, considering opportunities and protecting our systems, where our use is reasonable and does not outweigh your rights.
  • Contract, or steps before a contract — where you ask us to look at a business or to work with you.
  • Consent — for optional cookies and for marketing contact where you have chosen to opt in. You can withdraw this at any time.
  • Legal obligation — for tax, accounting and record-keeping duties.

05

Who we share information with

We do not sell personal information. We may share it with:

  • Professional advisers, such as lawyers, accountants and financiers, who are bound to keep it confidential.
  • Suppliers who run services for us, such as website hosting and email, who may only use information on our instructions.
  • Prospective buyers or investors, where a transaction genuinely requires it and under obligations of confidentiality.
  • Regulators, tax authorities or the police, where we are required to provide information.

06

Transfers outside the UK

Most of the information we hold stays in the United Kingdom. Some of our suppliers may process information outside the UK. Where they do, we use recognised safeguards, such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or the UK Addendum to the EU standard contractual clauses, so that your information remains protected.

07

How long we keep information

We keep personal information only for as long as it is needed for the reasons set out above:

  • General enquiries: up to two years after our last contact with you.
  • Live discussions about a business: for as long as the discussion continues, and for a reasonable period afterwards.
  • Accounting and tax records: six years, or longer where the law requires it.
  • Marketing consent: until you ask us to stop.

Where information is no longer needed, we delete it or remove the details that identify you.

08

Your rights

You have the right to:

  • Be told what information we hold about you and why.
  • Ask for a copy of the information we hold about you.
  • Ask us to correct information that is wrong or incomplete.
  • Ask us to delete information we no longer need.
  • Ask us to limit how we use your information, or object to our use of it.
  • Move your information elsewhere in a usable format.
  • Withdraw consent at any time where you gave it.

To exercise any of these rights, email hello@wolfgangcapital.co.uk. We will respond within one month and may need to check your identity first. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.

09

How we protect information

We use sensible technical and organisational measures to keep personal information safe. This website is served over an encrypted connection, parts of it are protected by a passcode, and access to records is limited to the people who need them. Our suppliers are chosen and checked with the same care.

No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, so we cannot promise absolute security. If a breach affecting your information occurs and we are required to report it, we will do so.

10

Children

This website is not aimed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has given us personal information, tell us and we will remove it.

11

Changes to this notice

We may update this notice as our business or the law changes. The date shown at the top of the page is the date of the current version, and any significant change will be highlighted here when you next visit.
